FINAL MAJOR PROJECT
The Los fo Hellu (The Soul of Hell Blade)
Supernatural-themed props have always been my favourite genre of prop, due not only to some of their highly unique designs but also their dark backstories and scary powers. I decided to make my FMP a prop that would symbolise all the things I love about the Supernatural-themed props and the genre as a whole.
The blade is called the Los fo Hellu (The Soul of Hell blades). It is a curved short sword covered in demonic faces with a skull as its pommel. The blade is inspired by some of my favourite props, including The Papa Tunde blade and The Cursed Stake from the supernatural show, The Originals, and two gothic weapons known as Chaoseater and Chaos Fang from the video games, Darksiders 1 & 2.
MAKING PROCESS
The blade was sculpted out of Monster Clay. It was moulded out of Silicone Rubber to make a 2-part mould and then cast in Fast Cast Resin. The finishing process included filling, sanding and painting. Overall, both blades took 132 hours to complete.
It was a really fun and educational project, helping me to improve both my sculpting skills and my confidence in moulding and casting. The finished pieces exceeded my expectations for how the final blades would look.
